Overview
indie1617 is a music-focused, streaming digital radio station that is independently owned-and-operated. The station features an eclectic mix of music from emerging and established artists from the indie/alternative genre.
Armed with nothing more than a logo, our work includes building a visual identity to deliver a cohesive brand experience as well as engage users with a web hub that allows users to tune in, browse bulletin from content creators, and even a centralized location of Boston's upcoming live musical acts.

Developing the brand
With no brand elements originally set in place, we elevated indie617's visual experience into something more meaningful to its prospective target personas.
Deriving all styles and guidelines from a grayscale logo, a visual reflection of evenings spent listening to the latest & greated in indie/alternative music was produced. With a vibrant accent color becoming integral, the holistic visual identity becomes reminiscent of Boston's live & highly active night‑time music scene.
All about user engagement
For any radio station, their website's most fundamental purpose should be serving its audience a live stream of its broadcast—and indie617 is no exception. A custom music player was designed to facilitate users partaking in the radio station's broadcast programs. Song history archives now allow for immediate visual association via album covers, lending itself to enhanced user experience. Blog posts, announcements, and reviews make an entrance too.
Lastly, Boston hosts over a thousand concerts per year. A comprehensive list of upcoming live events and the means to access details and ticket purchases make indie617's website a hub for all things exciting.
